About Alex
Back in the distant mists of time, Alex went to Maidstone College of Art where he studied Graphic Design. The very same college where David Hockney once taught fine art for two weeks. In a piece for the Sunday Times Hockney referred to this brief experience as one of 'the most miserable episodes' of his life.
Following Art College, Alex entered the advertising industry as a copywriter. During this period he began painting on glass as an experimental exercise and began exhibiting his work. In 1996 he was asked to undertake a large commission for a private Harley Street clinic, which required five large panels to adorn a newly refurbished entrance hall.
Alex retired from the advertising industry in 2017 and has now turned to writing novels. (Sleeping with the Blackbirds, The Chair Man, A Brand to Die For, One Man Down). He can occasionally be seen guiding visitors around Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath, but still finds time to paint.
